I watched this classic for the first time yesterday. IT WAS AMAZING. The story and characters were absolutely fascinating. I can definitely see why this is like the quintessential movie about Hollywood. Norma Desmond (played by Gloria Swanson) is the scariest bitch I’ve ever seen. And I enjoyed the fact that it was about a guy struggling to make it in LA, for obvious reasons (I’m doin it). If you enjoy film and haven’t seen this, you must. It’s fabulous. It was directed by Billy Wilder, another of my fav directors (He did Some Like It Hot, Double Indemnity, and Sabrina among other classics of the 40s and 50s).
