Test screened this last Thurs night. It was kinda funny. Not as funny as I hoped for considering all the awesome talent (I love Vince Vaughn and Jason Bateman in particular). I want Vince Vaughn to be in a good movie. I feel like he has not done anything that is as good as he could be. Wedding Crashers was the last film he’s done that I really enjoyed (though IMDB says he was in Into the Wild, which I enjoyed, but I don’t remember what he did in it.) With films like Anchorman, Dodgeball, Old School, and my fav Swingers under his belt, I really hope that there is more great stuff to come.
Bateman on the other hand has been in what feels like every movie that comes out, so it’s like I don’t expect quite as much as him. He has been in 5 movies in 2009, and all of them feel like they came out at the same time (this one, Invention of Lying (he has a small part), Up In the Air (about to come out), and Extract). The other film he was in this year is State of Play which I haven’t seen. It’s good to see him really doing well. And I can’t help but be excited for the upcoming Arrested Development movie.
Jon Favreau made the movie Elf and wrote and starred in Swingers so despite being in this mediocre movie, he can really do no wrong. Plus he’s got the Iron Man franchise, so I’m sure he’s not worried.
So overall, yeah, this one was nothin’ special. Had a few laughs. I look forward to having some couple friends that I can go on vacations with when they are about to have divorces.
